moving day & swim lessons

I remember that hot, sticky summer day, the summer before 4th grade, when we moved into the house on Pearl Street. I thought it was the greatest thing! Old, real linoleum floors, polished to a shine... french doors.... a fireplace.... and best of all, my very own bedroom!

Last week, after 27 years, the last of the Reed family moved out of that house. I couldn't resist snapping a few pictures:

Evyn asked if she could take swimming lessons. She loved her first class! And Andrew loved gazing at the clouds. We go back for three more lessons before the end of the season.

Fun with charcoal.... it's not just for grilling anymore :)

Evyn won a gift card to Olive Garden from Grandma & Grandpa's bank, and asked if she could bring her beloved cousins for lunch. Check out Emily's purple streak! I'm surprised Evyn hasn't asked for her own - yet.

ice cream, fairies, fish and parachutes

Last weekend we met the C's and Great-Grandma R. at The Jigger Shop in Mount Gretna (just down the road from the beach) for ice cream treats.

After our shakes and fries and sundaes were gone we walked around checking out the cottages, and the fairy garden:

The fairies were having a lovely tea party before we arrived and interrupted. Evyn and Elisabeth left notes for the fairies, and a few coins hidden in strategic spots.

Later that day Scott, Evyn, and Aunt Chris went up to the Leola Fireman's carnival. The carnival is a small collection of rides, games, and food trucks, but it's been a tradition in our family for the last few years. The skies were threatening rain so Julie stayed home with Andrew.

Evyn had just started her pony ride when it was time for the parachutist to make his appearance!

Two summers ago, then-3-year-old Evyn surprised us by winning not one, but two goldfish! Gold and Goldie are still with us.... this summer, Evyn added Goldie Gold Gold to our fish family:

Evyn introduced her giant rubber duckie to Watson - the potat... err, duck, that Chris and Grams found earlier this summer:
