Beach 2009- day 2
Our first day in Corolla had concluded with taking in a fireworks display from the deck of our rented house, the Second Wind.
After a good night's sleep and a pancake breakfast it was time to build some sandcastles and catch some waves.
The weather was pleasant - mid 80's and overcast, which was a good thing, as our sun tent didn't stand up to the winds of the Outer Banks and I was paranoid about Andrew getting too much sun.

a week at the beach
Saturday July 4th we scooped the kids out of their beds before dawn and hit the road. Destination: Corolla, NC - a week at the beach, M4 and the C. family.
We'd anticipated holiday traffic and frequent nursing stops to make for a long drive, but were pleasantly surprised to be wrong. Traffic wasn't bad (leaving at 3:53 am helped), and Andrew slept most of the way, so we made great time- 7 1/2 hours from our house to the Second Wind- including half an hour of pit stops. Evyn, meanwhile, only slept for about 20 minutes of the trip. I expected her to crash mid-day but she managed to chug through until bedtime!
We came home with 350+ digital pictures, so I'll post them as I sort through them. Here are photos from our first day - July 4th:
