* * Snow * *

Monday night Evyn had a blast rolling around in the snow, eating snow, making snow angels, shoveling snow, and sledding through the snowy yard.

It was a damp evening - the pictures aren't overexposed, that's a thick icy fog!










Evyn's sibling class was canceled, hopefully they will reschedule soon, Evyn was really looking forward to it.

Pregnancy update, I'm 32 weeks and still at +11.5 pounds. Back pain has gotten a little better, but reflux is worse (it keeps happening in my sleep, waking me up - yuck!). Baby's been less active the last few days, as s/he is running out of room to move around.

Construction update, builders came by for a few hours today, mostly for a strategy session. They'll be here bright & early Wednesday morning, and the real work will begin! Looks like no more sleeping in for Evyn & me....

the good, the bad, and the weather

weather report: It is snowing again! There have been flurries off & on for the last few days. Tonight we can expect about an inch of accumulation. Never thought I'd be excited about such a small amount of snow, but ANY snow makes Evyn so happy, I can't resist.

the bad: Cold temperatures over the weekend did this:


Cracked our bathroom window! Apparently, warm moist air inside + zero degrees outside built up pressure between the panes. Now we have the headache of trying to find a replacement sash - if we can't, we'll have to tear out the entire window and install a new one. Just what we wanted to do in the middle of winter.

the good: Our builder called today. He's picking up our permits tomorrow morning, and electricians will be here in the afternoon to get started. FINALLY. Whew!



One more tidbit - tonight is Evyn's sibling class at the hospital. Should be fun!

So, it's really cold out. And we've been hibernating. You'd think that would mean I spent the extra time indoors finishing the nursery. NOPE! Still lots to be done.

What we have been doing, is playing lots of UNO, reading books, & watching Mr. Rogers (from bed - with our pj's on). Poor Scott has had to brave the pre-dawn cold for work, but Evyn, baby & I have done our best to stay cozy.


Earlier in the week I did manage to get to the very bottom of the pile of baby things. The back left corner of the basement had previously been stacked, to the ceiling, with boxes of things Evyn had outgrown. What a mess!


Evyn was happy to see her rocking horse make a return from the basement, and tested out the crib for me after an entire afternoon spent assembling it.



Drapes are at the dry cleaner's. Desk & computer won't be moved out for a couple more weeks, since we really have no place to put it. (Still no word on construction - I am putting it out of my mind for now, because it's too frustrating to think about!) Rocker & changing table reassembled, so the 'bones' of the nursery are there!



Thursday we got a dusting of snow. Poor Evyn has been waiting for real snowfall since November - actually, she has been asking for snow since summertime! It's been such a disappointing winter, that the tiny bit we accumulated was still enough to entice her outside for an hour.


I can't remember if I mentioned this before - I think I did - but the coat Evyn is wearing in these pictures, was the one I wore in first grade!







Don't ask me why our Christmas tree is still on the patio. I'd like to say it's because we've been busy.....

31 weeks & a checkup

31 weeks down, 9 weeks (61 days, wow) to go.

Prenatal appointment this morning logged me in at +13.5 pounds, blood pressure at 100/70. Baby's heartbeat was 135 bmp. I am amazed that there have been no issues with this pregnancy, so far anyway, considering the first two months were a bit rocky.

I felt much better when I was carrying Evyn, and yet by this point with her, I had already had multiple ultrasounds due to uterine cysts, had failed my 1-hour glucose tolerance test, and been admitted to L&D for a non-stress test thanks to Evyn's erratic heartbeats. I guess I had anticipated a repeat of these problems, and though they did turn out to be minor issues, I'm glad things are progressing more smoothly this time!

In the last few days I got all the unisex newborn clothing washed and put away, assembled the crib (lots of fun! It's 20+ years old and comes with no instructions), set up the changing table, and bought a few more baby essentials. Pictures coming soon, I promise!
