Andrew had his 2-year checkup a couple weeks ago (a month late). He thoroughly enjoyed himself, with one exception..... he was VERY unhappy about having to keep his shirt off! At the end of the appointment he was quite happy to be allowed to put it back on.
He got one shot, which he handled like a champ. I told him the nurse was going to give him a little owie in his arm, he nodded and said "Okay." He winced a little, but no tears! Afterward he was happy to take a sticker and beg for a couple animal crackers. The doctor noted an innocent heart murmur, which is very common, not dangerous, and requires no treatment. He has 20 teeth now - his 2-year molars are completely in.
So, here we go, his final baby stats posting:
height~~~~~~~~~35.25" (63rd percentile)
weight~~~~~~~~~27#1oz (33rd percentile)
head~~~~~~~~~~18.9" (29th percentile)
latest tricks: jumping with both feet, rolling down hills, eating beef (specifically, hamburgers and meatballs).
That last one is a biggie, because after 7 years Evyn has yet to take her first bite of beef!
And, he has gigantic feet. He's a size 8.5 - 9 shoe now, which Evyn wore when she was FOUR.
Looking back over his stats and growth charts, it's interesting to see how both kids started out with nearly identical measurements, but grew in very different ways. And it's fascinating to see how differently they play, too. Evyn was always very quiet, independent, and visual. Rarely did we make it through an entire book before something else captured her interest and she toddled away. (She is a voracious reader now - and still prefers to do it quietly, on her own!). Andrew, on the other hand, will crawl into my lap and beg me to read the same book over and over. He's also very big on role playing - he'll spend hours each day playing with Evyn's doll house and creating scenarios for the dolls to react to and interact. Evyn has always been more interested in crafting, building, and creating - she's a very literal thinker, and Andrew is always silly. Which might be one of the reasons why they get along so well, they compliment each other's personality perfectly!

18 month checkup
(Only a month late - Andrew is now 19 months old!)

Stats~

It's hard to get good pictures of Andrew these days.....
this kid is on the move!
He's still eating like a little monster. He loves music (he cranks up the stereo) and dancing, trying to hop, dressing up, hats, hair clips, and of course his sister. Most afternoons they spend an hour or two playing ball, swinging, and making sandcastles after Evyn gets home from school. Evyn rarely complains about her little tag-along; she's an amazing big sister.

Andrew has a crazy sense of humor, and impressive memory-
he often surprises me by knowing the name of something that I told
him once, weeks before.
Evyn has always been a great sleeper, but this kid is WAY too easy (at least as far as sleeping goes!) He still asks for his nap most days, and rarely complains about going to bed at night. He sleeps 12-13 hours at night, and then naps about 2 hours in the early afternoon.
All those sleepless nights comforting him instead of letting him cry when he was an infant really paid off!
One of Andrew's latest obsessions is flossing his teeth. He asks for a flosser a couple times a day- and yes, he actually flosses!

Hard to believe his next big milestone will be turning two. How could he possibly be closing in on two years old? Crazy.

1 month checkup
Andrew went to see the pediatrician on his 5 week birthday. According to the ped, he's in the 90th percentile for weight at his age. 80% for length, and 50% for head circumference.
Evyn's measurements were very similar at this age - except that her head circumference was always over 90th percentile :)
birth:______ 8# 6oz ______20.5" long______ 14.5" hc
1 week: ____7# 12oz_____ 20.5" long ______14" hc
1 month: __11# 4 oz _____22.38" long _____15" hc

kindergarten physical
On Wednesday, Scott's Mom came to watch Andrew while I took Evyn to the doctor for her 5 year well visit & kindergarten physical. Can you believe we have a school-aged child?!
Evyn was very nervous about the immunizations she needed for school. She didn't remember her last shots, which were at her 3-year well visit. She told me she wasn't feeling brave.
She did enjoy most of the appointment - the vision test, reflex check, and the play area in the waiting room. The office is in the midst of upgrading to an all-electronic filing system, which meant we had a 45 minute wait between the physical and the shots, while the staff figured out how to enter in our data. We killed the time with lots of silliness.... thank goodness I had my camera with me, to get Evyn's mind off the wait!

She did great for the first shot, but the next three -yes, 4 sticks! brutal- didn't go so well for her, and she told me on the way home (to a very hungry baby) that she's "never, ever going back there and doing that again!" We did stop at Rita's on the way home for a Cotton Candy Gelati, which soothed her spirit a bit.
