construction update

Finally!!! First estimate is in. The bedroom addition project is well within our anticipated price range, which means - it's a definite GO!

Which is not to say that the plans are settled... still waiting for a second estimate, then there's tweaking the building plan & getting a structural engineer to sign off on it, applying for permits, and of course dealing with the inevitable weather-related setbacks that come with wintertime construction. But, with a little luck we should be able to get started by mid-December.

Oh - how exciting!

I hope it is all smooth sailing from here on out and that you don't get any more flaky construction people! :))))

yep - good luck with the timing of it all! you're a brave mama! we had our bathroom completely gutted and redone before griffin was born - started in november, supposed to be done in december...we ended up firing the guy at the end of january when it was still only partially done (yes - we should have fired him MUCH MUCH sooner) and it was finally "done" by early Feb! Griffin was born early Mar! So, hope you're guy's name isn't Frank from Pittsburgh! :)

Thanks! It shouldn't be too bad, timing-wise. We've decided that, since it will be the largest bedroom, we will move office into the new space (office/playroom combo). Evyn will move into the old office, after the New Year, and the baby will get stuck with Evyn's tiny bedroom. So there's no pressure to get the new room finished on any time schedule!

I think a combination of large dots and stripes would look cute. I saw an awesome blue bedroom, done in a way that reminded me of Grandma's old dinner plates, and that had a neat cottage feel to it. But that's not very "little girl-y". Blue also lends itself to a beachy theme. Combine the two and get a beach cottage feel!
