Ducks 1, Barnstormers 0

Friday night we met up with Grams, Pops, and Aunt Chris to take in a Barnstormers game.
The 'Stormers lost, but we had a great time. Andrew - who insists on being in bed by 8pm - managed to stay awake the whole time, not going to sleep until we got home around 11pm!

It's almost summer - one week left of school! Our calendar is already (!) starting to look full, including upcoming trips to the mountains and to the beach. We learned from our recent trip to Baltimore that Andrew won't sleep in a Pack -n- Play, so I started searching for alternatives. Crib rentals are way too expensive, and fold-away cribs don't get very high marks for durability. Then I stumbled upon this item - the Room to Grow inflatable Play Yard. I had to give it a try!

It arrived earlier this week, and the kids have been playing nonstop with it. Their favorite use is to turn it on it's side and use it like a hamster wheel. We'll get to test it out for it's intended purpose later this month, keeping my fingers crossed that Andrew will still love it by then!

*check out my review of the product on the Amazon page :)
Edit: wow, the price has gone up $40 since last week.
you don't think it was because of my glowing review, do you? ;)

Evyn's teacher arranged a surprise ice cream party for the kids last week (isn't she great?!). A bunch of us parents sneaked in the classroom while the kids were at recess and set everything up. Fun, fun!

Now that we aren't sick anymore, Andrew and I have been trying to make up for lost time by going on more bike rides. He LOVES the bike trailer.... unfortunately he hates wearing the helmet. As long as we're in motion, though, he's usually OK.

The cold that wouldn't go away

(or so it seemed).

We spent the last 6 weeks cycling a cold/cough amongst ourselves. Andrew and I officially bid it farewell this past weekend. Needless to say, we spent a lot of time at home while one person or the other was under the weather. We filled some of that time by -

baking hamburger buns,

watching movies,

watching the garden grow,

and making shadow puppets.

Aren't they cute?

Last week the kids got to dress up as their favorite storybook characters. Evyn chose to be the kitten from this book that we've read so many times over the years that we both have it memorized:
