parade & mud pies

Wednesday 9/30 we took in the parade at the New Holland Fair with the C's and Aunt Chris. Andrew slept snuggled up with Chris, even as tractor-trailers honked their horns and marching bands passed by.

On a recent warm afternoon, Evyn decided to mix up some mud and make mud pies.

What I didn't know, until a couple days later, was that she decorated our patio while she was at it:

Crazy - with a capital C

Among Evyn's many nicknames. one in particular has stuck over the last year..... "Crazy."
To the extent that, when I whisper to Andrew, "Crazy is coming!" he cranes his neck to look for his sister.

She's earned this nickname outright. Silly kid!

no time to say hello, goodbye....

We've been busy! Nothing terribly exciting, just the normal crazy everyday stuff.

Evyn started her 3rd year of dance lessons on the 17th. After lots of phone calls and a few schedule changes we ended up with a ballet/tap class with her friends Sophia and Katherine on Thursday nights.

We've had a couple playdates. Two bouts of the sniffles. Added chicken, apples, and rice cereal to Andrew's dining repertoire (and, he's gained a pound!). A golf tournament. Dinner at a restaurant - sans kids. Freecycled a few boxes of stuff. Swapped out summer clothes for winter ones in all our closets. Misplaced a school library book and, in speaking with Evyn's teacher about it, heard lots of really great things about Evyn's classroom behavior and eagerness for learning. A couple haircuts, some early Christmas shopping.

Haven't been taking too many pictures lately. Evyn keeps my camera full of movies, though. One of these days I will make good on an earlier promise to re-install my video editing software and I can share a few gems with you. I'll add that to my ever-growing to-do list (don't hold your breath, though - I still haven't mailed out Andrew's baby pictures or birth announcements! I'll get there - eventually).

A couple shots of the sweetest little boy in the world (truly!):

6 months

The cutest, sweetest, snuggliest little boy in the whole world turned 6 months old on September 12th.

On Tuesday we went for his checkup (and shots, boo). He's 17 pounds (still!), 27 inches long, and his head circumference is 17.5 inches.

He's getting around quickly these days! He's crawled a few times, but prefers to scoot around instead. We often find him up on his toes, tush in the air and balancing on his head - this kid wants up on his feet! He's doing a lot of "talking," but his only real word so far is "Momma."

Naps happen in his crib now, instead of the cosleeper bed in our bedroom where he sleeps at night. My plan was to transition him to his room/crib around 6 months. However, he's still waking 3-4 times per night to nurse, so it's easier on all of us to have him stay a while longer. While I wish he would sleep in longer stretches, I have to confess I like having an excuse to keep him nearby (last baby syndrome?!?)

Naps are few and far between these days. We haven't fully adjusted to our new school schedule - he's usually ready for a nap right around the time that I have to take Evyn to school. By the time we get back from dropping her off, he often catches a second wind and doesn't nap until late afternoon!

And of course, no Andrew update is complete without a flash back to pictures of Evyn at the same age. Here she is, at 6 months old (October 2004):
